Matchmaking slowdown?

In season 3 so far, matchmaking has been wonderfully fast; often within an hour or two my algos have played around 60 to 80 matches and reached a settled ranking.
This evening though, I’ve had under 20 matches in a similar time. Are the servers just swamped due to interest and activity generated by the competition this weekend? Or is something else going on?

We thought the number of games being played per algo was excessive and reduced it. Of course more is better, but I think ~20 should be sufficient. I’ll increase things a bit for now so that the difference isn’t so dramatic, but will probably move back towards where we are now over time. If anyone else has a different preference or opinion, feel free to add their thoughts here.
